My passion (besides my family!) is knitting and crocheting. I'm committed to learning everything I can about both crafts, and doing the very best work that I can. I've begun designing some things on my own and hope one day to be a published designer. EVERY crochet and knit magazine is my favorite, and I would be proud to be published in any one of them. Both crafts have been a life line for me over the past few years while I've been working my way through the confusing world of mental illness, and also some very serious back surgery and paralysis (thank God so much for this not happening in my hands, so that I may knit, crochet, and play piano...music...another post for another day). I also thank God that the paralysis is in my left foot, so that I may use my right foot for driving and the pedals on the piano.
The project I'm currently working on is a pale blue sweater for myself. I'm usually working on things for others, so it's fun to be making something pretty for myself this time! It's crocheted mostly with single crochet, but with some front-post double crochet cable work, and I'm debating whether to add some bead work to it. I'll be sure to post a picture when it's done!
My grandma passed a few years ago, but I still remember her every year on her birthday, since it's just 4 days before mine. Also, Grandma and I shared a very special bond because she was also my Godmother. Every year on this day, since I was confirmed in the Lutheran Church, I've worn the beautiful garnet and white gold ring that she gave me (which was given to her by her aunt, her own Godmother, upon her own confirmation in the Lutheran Church). I'll cherish her memory forever with this one little remembrance. Also, after she passed, she didn't have many "things" left because she'd already been in a small care home for a few years. I was fortunate to receive a nice warm vest, and I wear it often. I miss you, Grandma! With love from Amy
Home's Cool Family is the name of my new blog, because we're a homeschooling family of 4 who think home's cool! My dearest friend got me FINALLY turned on to the world of weblogs! I have 2 children, a boy who is 8, and a girl who is thisclose to being 6. In fact we've even had a small party for her already with relatives. The real thing is any second! ;)
We use Sonlight Curriculum and also some things from Alpha Omega Publications. We're truly enjoying the homeschooling journey and lifestyle. It's keeping our family close, and we all love spending time together. My husband works from home, too, so we get a LOT of together time! LOL! Don't worry, though. We certainly get out. We take lovely long vacations when other schools are in session. ;)
Thanks for stopping by, and I promise to post only when I have something interesting to talk about. :)
